History

The Fred Knop Family’s interest in sheep genetics traces back to the early 1980s with the purchase of some key females from the flocks of P.C. Walters, Fred Krenk, and Jerry Dale. We added rams from breeders such as Darrell Anderson, Jerry Dale, and Fred Krenk to stir the genetic pot. Many friends and customers over the years have commented on the “Knop look” of our sheep. We attribute this look to the unique genetic foundation upon which our flock was created. We added the Crazy Horse line of Suffolk genetics to our flock in the late 1980s, and a little later the “Red Tag” Mayer Hampshire line. We have since utilized the services of many rams from Impact Hampshires, WI, and several from Wheaton Hamps, MI. Our latest stud ram addition is a “TA” son (Hampshire) from Larry DeSpain, OK.

We are proud to have produced the three rams who respectively sired three Grand Champion carcasses at the prestigious Ak-Sar-Ben Livestock Exposition (the largest carcass evaluation in the United States) and two Grand Champion carcasses at the National Western Stock Show. To our knowledge, no other flock in the club lamb industry can equal this record.

Our current flock is utilizing the genetics of old line Cabaniss, Miller, DeSpain, Wise, Marcantel, Impact, and Wheaton Hampshire genetics. The primary focus of our flock is to produce highly competitive show lambs right for today.

We offer breeding stock and club lambs both through online sales and at private treaty. If you are looking for that special stud ram, show lamb, or replacement female, we believe you will like what we have to offer.
