2011 STUD RAM UPDATE

Watch this page and our blog for updates over the next few months detailing the 6 exciting new rams we have added to our stud ram battery. Additionally we have added a group of key females from a flock that produces many winning wethers nation-wide. Both the rams and females we have added are of the genetic lineages proven to produce winners in the show ring.

For show lamb enthusiasts the key word to describe these rams is--SHAG--and all the other attributes necessary to create high-level wethers.

Do plan to schedule a stop by the farm next spring to view these unique show lamb prospects as well as the ram lambs and ewe lambs sired by these rams. These lambs will represent several new genetic combinations not previously available in the industry anywhere.

We are confident that these show lambs will put you in the winner's circle! The ram lambs and ewe lambs will also promise to advance most any breeding program.

As you can probably tell we are extremely excited about our upcoming 2011 lamb crop. We invite you to consider the possibilities. You be the judge!

Stud rams seeing service for the 2010 lamb crop:

  • Marx 7007=Sired by Team Johnson (Ohio) 1135 who sired the 2008 San Antonio Grand Champion. Johnson 1135 is a son of the famous Marcantel LSU Hampshire ram. We anticipate offering a super set of show lambs by 7007 in 2010.

  • Overload (Knop 5799)=Marx 7007 x Knop 228 who is an own daughter of Marx 9-56 combined with PC and Omega genetics. See the commentary attached to his photos. He will sire show lambs with design and power with appropriate frame dimensions.

  • Knop 5865-Roy=Marx 7007 x Knop 5266 (Step Ahead). Twin brother to the Randy Hill wether admired by many.

  • Gold Mine (Knop 5047)=Marx 4-06 x Knop 897=WHB (Omega) x Alf (Granddaddy). Sire of many champions for the Beck family of Ohio. Also the sire of powerful show lambs purchased by the Urban/Hill group of Oklahoma and Randy Hill of Indiana. Thought by many to be one of the very best Suffolk wether sires currently in service.

  • Ike (Knop 5295)=Sired by Cabaniss 04-198, a Century son, out of a Captain (Knop 5298) x Omega daughter. Ike continues to earn additional females in his service group every year. Sires championship wethers and super females.

  • Levi (Knop 4981)=Marx 3-36 x Knop 201 (a Marx 08 x Omega combination). We brought this 2005 ram back to our program to produce show lambs with a moderate growth curve that will exhibit very attractive muscle shape and super hip structure. He primarily saw service on the DeSpain 86 and Marx 7007 daughters. The Marx 08 ram will stir the genetic pot in a very positive way in any pedigree.

  • Step Ahead (Knop 5266)= A proven son of Jackpot (Knop 4984) who was a son of Marx 9-56. His mother is a critical Captain daughter. His hip design is impeccable. He meshes extremely well with the DeSpain and 7007 Hampshire genetic lines.
